Approach and anchoring
Enter the rade de Toulon from the south, then bear west towards the Baie du Lazaret. The bay is sheltered from all winds except the south-east. Shallow depths along the shore, keep to the marked channel.
Practical
Fuel available ashore nearby. Limited services on the pontoon itself. Full marina facilities at Le Lazaret 0.6 nautical mile south or Port Pin Rolland 0.8 nautical mile south-east.
Ashore
Villa Tamaris Pacha 400 metres uphill, a 19th-century orientalist villa now a contemporary art centre, free admission. Corniche walk along the Lazaret shore towards Les Sablettes beach 2 km south-east.
History
The Tamaris district was developed in the 1880s by the industrialist Michel Pacha, former head of the Ottoman lighthouses, who built a series of oriental-inspired villas along the bay.
