Guide
Approach and anchoring
Lake access only, no tide. Approach from the main basin keeping clear of the shallows along the shore. VHF 14 for the harbourmaster. Watch for afternoon thermal winds from the north-west funnelling down the Durance valley.
Practical
Around 30 berths, mostly held by local owners, with a few visitor places in season. Slipway and small car park on site. No fuel berth: nearest diesel at Port Saint-Pierre 2.1 NM east. Village of Rousset is 3 km up the road with bakery and small grocery.
Ashore
Footpath along the lake shore towards the Rousset dam viewpoint at about 2 km, looking over the secondary reservoir. Village of Rousset at 3 km with bakery. Demoiselles coiffees geological site above Theus is a 15 km drive.
History
The port was built after the filling of the reservoir in 1961, when the Serre-Ponon dam on the Durance submerged the old villages of Savines and Ubaye. Bois Vieux replaced moorings lost when the valley floor disappeared under 120 m of water.
