Guide
Approach and anchoring
The harbour opens to the south-west and is screened by Hupper Island and Blubber Island, leaving a clear width of 200 to 250 yards. Anchor inside Marshall Point in 7 to 11 metres at low water. Approach is straightforward in most conditions; Marshall Point lighthouse marks the eastern side of the entrance.
Practical
The anchorage is sheltered from N through E to SE and open to the south-west. Moorings are administered by the Port Clyde General Store. A 2023 fire on the wharf destroyed the fuel dock, municipal slips and dinghy dock, and rebuilding is under way; check ashore for current facilities. Fresh water is available.
Ashore
Marshall Point Lighthouse and its small museum stand a short walk from the harbour. The Monhegan Boat Line runs the daily passenger ferry to Monhegan Island, 10 miles offshore, from the village landing.
Story
The walk along Marshall Point breakwater featured in the film Forrest Gump as the eastern end of the character's cross-country run.
