Approach and anchoring
Approach from the west, south of the Île de Beniguet and north of the Roches de Porspaul drying rocks. Strong tidal streams in the Chenal du Four just offshore, plan the approach on a slack or favourable tide. No lights, daylight entry only.
Practical
No official berths, anchor on sand off the slipway. Shelter from NW through N to SE. Exposed to the SW, the prevailing wind on this coast, and untenable in a westerly swell. No services at the cove. Aber Ildut 1,8 NM to the NE for shelter, fuel and water.
Ashore
Sentier des Douaniers GR34 follows the cliffs north toward the Phare de Trézien and south toward the Aber Ildut. Small summer beach at the head of the cove. Village of Lampaul-Plouarzel 1 km inland, bakery and small grocery.
History
The Iroise sea was classified as a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1988 and became France's first parc naturel marin in 2007, covering the waters from Ouessant to the Chaussée de Sein.
