Approach and anchoring

Open approach from the Iroise Sea. Watch the chain of reefs and drying rocks off Pointe de Corsen to the north. Tidal streams run strong along this coast, up to 3 knots on springs. Anchor on sand and mud close to the beach, outside the bathing area marked in summer.

Practical

Mouillage forain, no facilities on the water. Beach with seasonal lifeguards in July and August. Small car park and a snack bar above the beach. Nearest chandlery and fuel at Le Conquet, 2.5 nautical miles south.

Ashore

GR34 coastal path runs along the cliffs, northbound to Pointe de Corsen at 2 km, the westernmost point of mainland France, and southbound to Pointe de Kermorvan and Le Conquet at around 5 km on foot. Shops and ferry terminal to Ouessant and Molène at Le Conquet.

Story

The CROSS Corsen maritime rescue centre, perched on the cliff just north of the cove, coordinates search and rescue operations for the western English Channel.
