History
The Usine maremotrice de la Rance was commissioned in 1966 as the first tidal power station in the world, producing 240 MW from 24 bulb turbines across the estuary dam. It transformed the Rance into a regulated basin, turning former fishing quays at Plouer and Saint-Suliac into sheltered yacht harbours.
