Approach and anchoring

Approach from the east along the low sandy shore between L'Ayguade and Port Saint-Pierre. Keep at least 200 m offshore, depths shoal quickly. The bottom is mainly posidonia seagrass; drop the anchor in the cleared sandy patches only to protect the meadow, as required by the Toulon prefectoral order for the Var coast.

Practical

Forain anchorage with no service. Holding is poor on seagrass. Shelter from NW, W and SW winds off the peninsula; fully exposed to the east and south-east swell. Port Saint-Pierre de Hyères lies 0.6 NM SW and Port de l'Ayguade 0.9 NM NE for refuge, fuel and water.

Ashore

Ceinturon beach runs along the anchorage with bars and restaurants on the seafront. The Vieux Salins des Pesquiers, part of the Parc national de Port-Cros, start 400 m inland and host flamingos and waders. Coastal path north to L'Ayguade in about 20 minutes on foot.
