Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east, between Hyères and the Giens peninsula. Sand and rock seabed, pick a clear sandy patch to avoid dropping on rock. Protection from NW, W and SW; fully exposed to winds with an easterly component and to swell from the open sea.
Practical
Mouillage forain, no facilities on the water. Port de la Gavine and the small Port du Gapeau shelter lie roughly 0.5 nm to the N and NE if the wind shifts.
Ashore
Long sand beach of Les Salins fronting the anchorage. Village of Les Salins d'Hyères with shops and restaurants along the coast road. The Salins des Pesquiers salt pans and the Giens tombolo lie a few kilometres to the west.
