Sand anchorage off the beach of Port-Navalo on the western tip of the Rhuys peninsula, at the mouth of the Golfe du Morbihan.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west along the Rhuys shore. Strong tidal streams at the entrance of the Golfe du Morbihan, up to 8 knots on the flood at springs in the narrows of Port-Navalo. Anchor outside the stream on sand in 2 to 4 metres. Shelter from north, north-east, east and south-east; fully exposed to the prevailing south-westerly and to the wind-against-tide chop of the gulf mouth.

Practical

No services at the anchorage. Port du Crouesty at 0.8 nautical miles east for a full-service marina with diesel, water, electricity, haul-out and chandlery. Port-Navalo village harbour at 0.3 nautical miles north for the passenger ferries to the Île-aux-Moines and the Île-d'Arz.

Ashore

Port-Navalo village at the top of the beach, bakery, grocery and cafes within 300 metres. Passenger terminal for the Golfe du Morbihan lines at the pier. The sentier des douaniers GR 34 runs from the lighthouse of Port-Navalo along the cliffs towards Arzon and Le Crouesty.
