Approach and anchoring
Inside the golfe du Morbihan entrance, strong tidal streams reach 8 to 9 knots in the narrows on springs. Plan arrival on slack water or with the flood. Weed bottom, so check the anchor has bitten. Locmariaquer lies 0.9 NM W, Ponton du Blair 1 NM NW.
Practical
No services on the mooring. Locmariaquer village at 0.9 NM W has a bakery, grocery, post office and restaurants around the harbour.
Ashore
Site mégalithique de Locmariaquer about 1 km from the village harbour, home to the Grand Menhir Brisé, the Table des Marchands dolmen and the Tumulus d'Er Grah, managed by the Centre des monuments nationaux.
History
The Grand Menhir Brisé once stood over 20 m high and weighed around 280 tonnes. It was erected around 4500 BC and later fell and broke into four pieces.
