Approach and anchoring
Approach at high water only, the shore dries far offshore on the western Cotentin. Exposed to the prevailing W and SW, leave at the first sign of onshore weather. Nearest all-weather refuge is Port-Bail 10,7 NM N.
Practical
Water tap on the seafront near the lifeguard post. No fuel, no chandlery. Small grocery and bakery in Pirou-Plage village behind the dunes.
History
Château de Pirou, 2,5 km inland, is one of the oldest stone castles in Normandy with a Romanesque keep dating from the XIIe century, held by the Pirou family who took part in the Norman conquest of southern Italy.
