Approach and anchoring
Strong tidal streams in the Chausey channels, up to 4 to 5 knots at springs. Use the southern approach from the Sound, watching the cardinal marks. Fond de sable, shelter from NE, E and SE. Open to the west.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no buoys, no services. La Crouie lies 3.2 NM SE and the marina of Hérel in Granville 12.6 NM S for all supplies, fuel and repairs.
Ashore
Grande Île de Chausey is the only inhabited island of the archipelago, with a 19th century fort, a semaphore, and a walking loop of about 8 km around the island. Tidal range reaches 14 m at springs, one of the largest in Europe, and uncovers a vast rocky foreshore.
