Guide
Approach and anchoring
Pelican Bay lies just south of Boca Grande Pass, where Charlotte Harbour meets Pine Island Sound. Depths run between 6 and 12 feet with good holding, and there is room for several dozen boats to swing. Protection from east and west winds is good.
Practical
Fresh water is available. Inn Marina lies 4.3 nautical miles to the N and Safe Harbor Pineland 4.9 nautical miles to the E. A small dock on the island takes a tender.
Ashore
Cayo Costa State Park covers most of the island. A pine-lined path crosses from the park dock to a long Gulf-side beach used for shelling, swimming and watching the sunset.
