Guide
Approach and anchoring
Reached from the bayou off Charlotte Harbor, a short run from Boca Grande Pass. Floating pontoons with roughly 6.0 metres of water on the approach and 4.5 metres alongside. Berths take vessels up to 50 feet. Office open 0800 to 1700; call ahead for a transient berth as only two are kept open.
Practical
Twenty-four berths in total, with wet and dry storage. Fuel, fresh water and shore power on site. The village of Boca Grande, with shops and restaurants, is within walking distance.
History
The Gasparilla Inn opened in 1913, after the railway reached the island in 1907 and brought wealthy visitors north for the winter. Boca Grande Pass had established itself as a tarpon fishing ground by 1910.
Story
Boca Grande Pass draws anglers from May to July for catch-and-release tarpon, and the marina sits a short run from those waters.
