The Miles River reaches in from Eastern Bay and winds through open farmland. The bottom is mud with good holding. This stretch is open to winds from north through south-east, so choose the spot to suit the forecast.

St. Michaels lies 2.8 miles west, where St. Michaels Marina and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum sit on the harbour. The museum keeps a working shipyard and the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse. A water taxi runs into town on VHF channel 71.
