Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the south with Pornichet 1.7 NM to the north-east and La Baule Le Pouliguen 2.5 NM to the north-west. Sandy bottom with good holding. Fully exposed: the bay opens to the Bay of Biscay and offers no shelter from any sector. Leave in good time if the wind freshens from the south or west.
Practical
No facilities on site. Nearest fuel, water and chandlery at Pornichet marina to the north-east. La Baule beach landing possible by dinghy in calm weather.
Ashore
Sandy beach of La Baule runs for roughly 9 km along the bay, one of the longest in Europe. Seafront promenade lined with shops and restaurants. Pornichet casino and old fishing harbour reachable by dinghy or on foot along the shore.
