Guide

Approach and anchoring

Entrance on the western side of the baie de La Baule, buoyed channel dredged to 1.5 m below chart datum. Bar shifts with SW swells, approach with rising tide for deeper draughts. Leading lights aligned at 53 degrees. VHF 9. Spring ebb runs strongly out of the étier.

Practical

820 berths split between Le Pouliguen and La Baule sides of the étier, fuel berth with diesel, water and electricity on pontoons, sanitaries with showers. Shops, bakeries and restaurants line both quays. SNCF station at La Baule 1.2 km from the Baule pontoons.

Ashore

Sandy beach of La Baule, 9 km long, starts at the eastern quay. Coastal footpath along the rocky côte sauvage begins at the Le Pouliguen side, leading W to the Pointe de Penchâteau at 1.5 km. Covered market of Le Pouliguen on place du Marché, 300 m from the harbour office.
