Guide

Approach and anchoring

Reached from the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway on the Skidaway River, about 7 miles by water from Thunderbolt. It is the last southbound fuel stop on the ICW for the next 90 miles. Call on VHF 16.

Practical

Around 4,000 feet of concrete docks, including 600 feet of deep-water face dock that can take vessels up to 200 feet. Fuel berth with diesel and petrol, fresh water, shore power and pump-out. Clubhouse and over-water pavilion.

History

The site was a lumber yard before becoming Hallman's Fish Camp in 1935, later Brady's Boat Works, one of the early East Coast marinas and a regular stopover for snowbird boats moving between Florida and New England. It featured in the 1961 film Cape Fear.
