Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Wilmington River off the Atlantic ICW, opposite Thunderbolt. The Herb River is a designated special anchorage area. Mud bottom with good holding and shelter from all sectors thanks to the marsh and riverbanks. Fresh water is available nearby.
Practical
Thunderbolt Marina lies 0.8 mile to the north-west, with the Savannah Yacht Club dock 1 mile to the east. Thunderbolt has three boatyards for repairs and haul-out. Downtown Savannah is about five miles away by bus or taxi.
