Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north through the rocky fairway between Ile Saint-Gildas and Ile du Château Neuf. The channel is marked but strewn with drying rocks on either side. Inside, drop anchor in 3 to 6 metres on sand. Shelter from SW through S to SE, exposed to the N and NW sector. Best worked around high water given the drying heads.
Practical
No facilities on site. Port-Blanc itself, 1 nm SW, offers a drying harbour with visitor moorings, water on the slip and a small village with bakery, grocer and bar-restaurants within 300 m of the landing.
Ashore
Sentier des douaniers (GR 34) runs along the shore with views over the Sept-Îles archipelago. Chapel of Port-Blanc dating from the 16th century sits on the dune above the beach. Plage de Port-Blanc is a 400 m sand beach, low-water swimming only given the extensive foreshore.
