Approach and anchoring

Approach from the north through a channel scattered with granite heads and rocky islets. The Île Saint-Gildas and Île du Château Neuf bound the roadstead. Entry is marked by perches and cardinal buoys; navigation by day is strongly advised because unlit rocks cover at high water. Holding on sand.

Practical

Forain mooring without facilities. Shelter from NE through W, fully exposed to N swell. For water, fuel and shops, dinghy ashore to Port-Blanc harbour, 0.8 NM south, or fall back on Port-Blanc marina 0.9 NM SW.

Ashore

Customs officers coastal path GR 34 runs along the shore from Port-Blanc toward Buguélès and Plougrescant. The Chapelle de Port-Blanc, built in the 15th century on a granite outcrop, stands above the beach. Small food shops and bakery in Penvénan village, 1.5 km inland.
