Guide
Approach and anchoring
Strong tidal streams run through the Four channel to the north and the Chenal de la Helle to the south, up to 4 knots at spring tides. Time the passage close to slack water. Anchor on the northern side in sand, sheltered from S and SW. Landing is restricted as the island is a nature reserve managed by the Office national de la chasse et de la faune sauvage.
Ashore
Île de Béniguet is a protected reserve closed to the public, no landing without authorisation. The wider Iroise marine park covers 3550 square kilometres and hosts grey seals and bottlenose dolphins. Le Conquet village lies 2.8 nautical miles east, with fishing port, bakeries and the ferry terminal to Ouessant and Molène.
