Approach and anchoring

Reached from the Atlantic via the Savannah River ship channel, about 18 NM upstream from Tybee Roads, or from the ICW via Fields Cut, 6 NM south-east. No air-draught restriction and deep water alongside, with commercial shipping traffic to watch for on the channel. VHF 72 for the marina office.

Practical

95 berths including 20 superyacht slips on a dedicated river dock. Diesel and petrol from the on-site fuel berth with high-speed pumps. Shore power up to megayacht voltages, water, pump-out, parking and concierge services. Berths reserved in priority for IGY Trident Club members, advance booking required for others.

Ashore

A free passenger ferry crosses the river to River Street and Savannah's historic district in five minutes, with the squares of the old town, the Telfair museums and Forsyth Park within walking distance. The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and its course are next to the marina.

History

Savannah was laid out by James Oglethorpe in 1733 as the first planned colonial city of Georgia, its grid of 22 squares around the historic district still largely intact. The port has been a working cotton, naval-stores and container harbour ever since.
