Approach and anchoring

The Étang de Berre connects to the Mediterranean via the Canal de Caronte at Martigues. Horizon Marine sits on the south shore of the lagoon. Maximum draught 3 m at the pontoons. Nautic Club Médéen lies 0,1 nm north and CNM Martigues 2,5 nm west. Wind acceleration from the mistral is significant across the étang.

Ashore

Chaîne de l'Estaque hiking trails start from the Jaï beach 2 km south, dune strip separating the étang from the Mediterranean. Martigues old town and the Miroir aux Oiseaux canal district 4 km west, painted by Félix Ziem in the late 19th century.
