Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Golfe de Fos through the Canal de Caronte, which is also used by commercial traffic. The lift bridge of Martigues opens on a published schedule, wait at the approach pontoon if closed. Mistral funnels through the canal and builds short steep chop.
Practical
Water and electricity on the pontoons, sanitary block with showers, capitainerie with VHF watch. Adjacent Port Maritima 0,2 NM south-west for fuel and additional services. Shops of central Martigues within walking distance across the Pont Saint-Sébastien.
Ashore
Quartier de l'Île and Quartier Jonquières sit either side of the canals, with the Miroir aux Oiseaux painted by Corot, Ziem and Dufy 400 m from the port. Musée Ziem on boulevard du 14 Juillet documents the town's role as a painters' motif. Markets on place des Martyrs on Thursday and Sunday mornings.
