Approach and anchoring
Reach the Étang de Berre through the Canal de Caronte from Martigues. The anchorage lies on the west side of the étang, with a mud bottom and good holding. Open to winds from the east sector, sheltered from the mistral by the rising ground of the Chaîne de la Nerthe.
Practical
No services on the beach. Port de Ferrières in Martigues lies 2.3 nm south with 400 berths, fuel, water and shops in the town centre. Port de Jonquières, 2.5 nm south, offers another 660 berths.
Ashore
Figuerolles beach is a small sandy cove within the étang. The village of Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts and its medieval walls sit 1.5 km inland on foot. The Étang de Berre is a Natura 2000 site for its wintering waterbird populations.
