Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approaches to Saint-Malo carry a large tidal range of up to 13 metres on spring tides and strong cross-currents near the rocky outer marks. Use the buoyed Chenal de la Petite Porte or Chenal de la Grande Porte. Keep clear of the Cezembre and Grand Jardin reefs. Saint-Malo lock at Port Vauban gives access to the Bassin Vauban on VHF 12.
Practical
Sand holds well. Exposed to N and NE swell. For all services, head 3.2 nm SW to Saint-Malo Port Vauban, or to Les Sablons marina at 3.6 nm SW for 1 200 berths, diesel, water and boatyard.
