Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north-east, keeping clear of the rocky foreshore that dries far out at low water springs on this stretch of the Rance and Cancale coast. The bay is sheltered from W through SE but fully exposed to the NE, where the Baie du Mont Saint-Michel builds steep wind chop.
Practical
Forain anchorage, no moorings and no services on site. Closest refuge is Port Picain 3.3 NM east, then the drying harbour of Cancale 3.7 NM east.
Ashore
GR 34 coastal path runs along the cliff above the cove. Pointe du Grouin headland and bird reserve 2 km north on foot. Cancale oyster market on the quay at La Houle roughly 4 km by the coast path.
