Mooring field at the mouth of the Five Mile River, between Rowayton and Darien on Long Island Sound, Connecticut.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
The Five Mile River is a narrow inlet about 0.6 mile west of Noroton Point and 0.9 mile north of Greens Ledge Light. A dredged federal channel carries 8 feet for roughly a mile upriver, marked by red and green buoys at the mouth and mid-river. Rocks that uncover 2 feet at low water have been reported on the east side near the channel edge.
Practical
Visitor moorings sit near the town dock, where a dinghy tie-up allows two hours ashore. There is no launch service and the river is narrow, so traffic must be watched. Mooring permits are managed by the Five Mile River Commission harbour superintendent.
Ashore
The town dock leads straight into Rowayton village with shops and restaurants within a short walk. Bayley Beach lies about 1 km from the landing.
