Approach and anchoring
The river is reached by a dredged channel running about 3 miles northeast from Sheffield Island Harbour to the South Norwalk bridge. A federal anchorage off Fitch Point holds a project depth of 10 feet. The bottom is mud, with shelter from all quarters once well up the river.
Practical
South Norwalk Boat Club lies 0.2 mile west and Ischoda Yacht Club 0.3 mile northwest. South Norwalk has shops, restaurants and a rail station within walking distance of the waterfront.
History
Ischoda Yacht Club was founded on the western shore of Norwalk Harbour in 1886 and is among the oldest yacht clubs in the United States.
