Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from seaward by daylight only. The Médoc shoreline is a long sand beach with breaking surf along the shelf, so stand well off and anchor clear of the surf line. No buoyage. The anchorage gives cover from NE through E to SE winds and is fully exposed from W and SW, the dominant Atlantic quadrant. Swell sets in quickly on any westerly shift.
Practical
Holding is sand. No services ashore at the beach. Closest shelter is Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc 6.7 NM east inside the estuary, or Talais 7 NM NE. Plan to leave well before any westerly blow.
Ashore
Euronat is a fenced naturist resort with a private beach access. The dune belt belongs to the Conservatoire du littoral and carries a coastal footpath. Pointe de Grave and the Cordouan lighthouse lie about 10 km south by road.
