Marina on the south side of Shark River at Avon-By-The-Sea, New Jersey, in a sheltered cove off Route 71.

Approach and anchoring

Shark River is the only small-craft harbour between Sandy Hook and Manasquan Inlet. Enter from the SI buoy through the jettied channel, controlling depth around 10 feet to the Ocean Avenue bascule bridge. Pass under the Route 71 bridge, 13 feet closed clearance, to reach the upper river.

Practical

Open 7 days a week. Travel lift and hydraulic trailer for hauling. Boat parts sales and engine repairs on site. Restaurant, bar, ice cream shop and general store at the marina.

Ashore

Belmar and Avon-By-The-Sea ocean beaches lie within walking distance across town. Striped bass, fluke and bluefish are taken in the river and off the inlet.
