Approach and anchoring
Sand bottom. Sheltered from north-east round through east to south-east, but open to the south-west and to the wash funnelling through Bahia Honda Channel under the old railway bridge. Set the anchor clear of seagrass beds.
Ashore
Bahia Honda State Park has two beaches reached by tender: Calusa Beach faces Florida Bay with calm shallow flats, and the 3,000 ft Loggerhead Beach faces the Atlantic. The park rents kayaks and snorkelling gear. Big Pine Sea Center is 4.8 nm to the west for fuel and supplies.
