Approach with care over a bottom of weed and rock, where holding can be uncertain, so check the anchor is well set. The spot is sheltered from NE through SE; it is open to the south and west.
Practical
Big Pine Sea Center lies 1.5 nm to the NE and a further boatyard 4.1 nm to the W. There are no facilities at the anchorage itself.
Ashore
The Newfound Harbor Keys separate the Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve, a 5,400 acre protected expanse of coastal water dating from 1969, home to turtles, rays and tropical fish in shallow, clear water.
