Approach and anchoring
Approach from the W by day, watching the rocky points on either side of the cove. Sand bottom. Shelter from NE and E winds, fully exposed to the prevailing W and NW swell of the Bay of Biscay. Royan lies 2.3 NM SE, Port Bloc 4.3 NM S.
Practical
Daytime lunch anchorage only. No moorings and no landing facilities. For a night stopover or fuel, shift to Royan marina, 800 berths, or Port Bloc close to the Le Verdon ferry.
Ashore
The Nauzan beach is supervised in summer. The sentier des douaniers coastal path runs along the cliffs and links to the Pointe du Pilou to the west and to Royan to the SE. Saint-Palais-sur-Mer village centre is about 1 km inland with shops and cafés.
