Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from Isthmus Cove and pick up one of the 42 numbered moorings. Deep-water anchoring lies outside the buoy field in 30 metres or more. Call Harbor Patrol on VHF channel 09 on arrival to be assigned a mooring and pay fees. The cove is protected from NW through S; afternoon winds funnelling round the isthmus can make it lively.
Practical
Forty-two moorings, no marina services in the cove itself. Two Harbors village lies a short walk or shoreboat ride east, with a general store, fuel and water. Booking fees apply on holiday weekends including Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day.
History
The Banning brothers, who developed Two Harbors in the early 1900s, held their Independence Day celebrations here, which gave the cove its name. The Fourth of July Yacht Club now leases the shore facilities.
