Approach and anchoring
Reached by crossing the San Pedro Channel from the mainland, roughly 20 nm. Howland's Landing carries mooring buoys but no room to anchor, so pick up an assigned buoy. The cove is well sheltered all round.
Practical
Sand bottom, sheltered from every quarter. Fresh water is available. The land and beach here are leased to the Los Angeles Yacht Club and a summer camp. The nearest mainland marinas are at San Pedro, about 20 nm north-east, including Los Angeles Yacht Club and Cabrillo Marina.
