Guide
Approach and anchoring
Lobster Bay indents the west side of Catalina Island, a short run from Catalina Harbor. Anchor over a mixed bottom of sand, rock and weed. The bay is sheltered from north-east through south-east and lies open to the prevailing north-west weather.
Practical
No facilities. Holding is variable on the sand, rock and weed bottom, so check the anchor is well set. Catalina Harbor, with moorings and stores, lies under a mile to the east. Los Angeles Yacht Club is 22 miles to the north-east on the mainland.
Ashore
The bay is a recognised dive site, named for the spiny lobster found along this stretch of the Catalina shore.
