Twenty-two miles off Los Angeles, California's weekend island: Avalon and its 360 moorings off the casino, Two Harbors with Isthmus Cove and Cat Harbor across the isthmus, Emerald Bay, Cherry Cove, Fourth of July Cove and Howlands Landing to the west, Little Harbor on the outer side. Almost everything is on paid moorings (40 to 100 dollars a night): free anchoring is limited to a few 20 to 30 metre spots.
