The mistral blows from the north-west, often 35 knots, sometimes for three days. The anchorages that hold: Toulon roadstead and Saint-Mandrier, the bay of Bormes and Le Lavandou, Porquerolles on a mooring, Port-Man at Port-Cros, Cavalaire and Pampelonne bay which stays flat in this wind, Les Canebiers at Saint-Tropez. Get in early: the gusts come down the valleys without warning.
