Approach and anchoring
Approach from the north-east, rounding the Pointe des Canebiers. Depths of 5 to 10 m over sand with rock patches and protected posidonia meadows. Drop the anchor clear of the seagrass. Bay is open to east and south-east, take shelter in Saint-Tropez harbour 1.3 NM to the west in fresh E winds.
Ashore
The bay is overlooked by La Madrague, the villa bought by Brigitte Bardot in 1958. Coastal path runs south to the plage des Salins 2 km away. Saint-Tropez old town and the Citadelle are 25 minutes on foot via the sentier du littoral.
History
The bay was used as a backdrop in the 1955 film 'Et Dieu créa la femme' by Roger Vadim, which turned Saint-Tropez into an international destination.
