The main beach of Porto Rotondo, in the Gulf of Cugnana on the Costa Smeralda, north-east Sardinia. About 200 metres of fine sand shelving gently. Sand and weed bottom, open to the N and NE.

Approach and anchoring

Anchor on sand in 3 to 8 m. Holding is good on sand, but an anchor dragged twice on weed in August 2025. Well inside the bay the bottom is sand, with rock near the entrance where an anchor fouled at 7 m in 2025. An old mooring line was found in 2024 near the jetty in front of the villas to the east. In season, buoys close off the swimming area. Wash from fast motorboats rolls through by day and settles in the evening.

Practical

Porto Rotondo marina is 3 to 10 minutes by dinghy, and dinghies tie up at the pier in front of the Cafe della Marina. The marina has a Spar supermarket and a laundry. No rubbish disposal was found in 2024, and the marina office handles it on request. In late winter 2026 every shop and supermarket was shut. Noise lasted until 1 am in June 2025.

Ashore

A beach restaurant and snack bars stand on the sand. Porto Rotondo, a short dinghy ride away, has shops and restaurants. Portisco is also within easy reach.
