Reached from the Golfe de Saint-Florent by rounding the town port and following the southern shore. The basin lies up a shallow river channel crossed by a footbridge, so access is restricted and larger or deeper-draught sailboats may not get in. The gulf is well sheltered from eastern winds but exposed to the libeccio from the west and northwest, which can set up a heavy swell into the bay.
