Sand anchorage 2.5 NM NW of Saint-Florent on the southern edge of the Agriates, tucked behind a low rocky point that blocks swell from the main sector of winds.

Approach and anchoring

Approach from the Gulf of Saint-Florent heading WNW. Drop the hook on clear sand in 3 to 7 m, where the water is clear enough to place the anchor by eye, keeping off the Posidonia as wardens patrol and fine boats lying over it. A 2.5 m sandbank sits in the middle and the head of the bay shoals, so deep-draught boats should not push too far in, and rocks rise on the south and south-west sides. Shelter across a wide arc from NW through W, SW, S to SE, but exposed to the Tramontane from the N and to easterlies that enter the gulf.

Practical

No facilities, no buoys, no tender dock. Saint-Florent marina is 2.5 NM SE and offers full services, fuel, and provisioning. The site is quieter than Loto and Saleccia as it has no road or shuttle access.

Ashore

The shoreline is scrub and small rocky coves, part of the Conservatoire du Littoral Agriates estate. A small river runs in at the head of the bay and can be paddled or taken by dinghy a short way upstream, though it shoals; take insect repellent. The anchorage is busy with day boats until late afternoon and quiet by evening. A coastal footpath runs east toward Saint-Florent and west toward the Mortella tower 1 km away.
