Marina on the Languedoc coast at Narbonne-Plage, 576 berths behind a sandy shoreline south of the Aude estuary.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entrance between two jetty heads on the sandy coast, approach from the east. The harbour is shallow, sounded at about 1.65 m and less in places, and silts near the entrance after strong easterlies, so it suits shoal-draught boats. Some pontoons are awkward to reach in fresh wind. VHF channel 9, not always answered. Beware of the tramontane from NW and of swell pushed into the entrance channel by easterly winds.
Practical
576 berths for boats up to 13 m. Water and power on the pontoons, sanitary blocks with showers, travel hoist. No fuel at the port, the nearest station 200 m inland has no automated pump. The office does not always answer the phone late in the day or out of season. Shops, bakery and supermarket within 300 m in the seaside resort behind the port.
Ashore
Sandy beach right next to the marina. Restaurants around the port include La Madrague, and the beach bar La Fringale sits at the water's edge, with a walk through the pine forest behind the resort. Regional nature park of Narbonnaise en Mediterranee covers the lagoons and Massif de la Clape inland. Town of Narbonne with its Roman remains and the Via Domitia lies about 15 km inland by road.
