Anchorage by the Molo Cavour breakwater off Diano Marina on the Ligurian coast. Sand bottom, sheltered from west and north, exposed to the east.

Approach and anchoring

Sand throughout in 2.5 to 5 m, deeper towards the middle of the bay. The bottom drops quickly off the breakwater. Holding is good. Tuck in close behind the breakwater for shelter from westerlies and the southerly swell. Swell from E, S or SW can make nights uncomfortable. In a SSW wind in 2025, the breakwater stopped the waves but not the wind. Kitesurfers and watersports schools use the bay in the afternoon. A submerged Madonna statue lies on the port side of the bay.

Practical

Dinghies can be left at a small sailing club pier reached by a short channel. A small marina also kept a dinghy for a tip in 2023. Rubbish bins stand at the beach club exit. Clubs ashore played music in the evening in July 2024.

Ashore

Diano Marina town is a short walk from the beach club, with a large produce market, a supermarket and a pizzeria. Diano Castello can be visited from here.
