Approach and anchoring
Approach from the east, clear of dangers. Entrance between two moles marked by red and green lights. Swell from the north-east can make the approach lively in strong Grecale, though the harbour itself stays calm. VHF 9. Maximum draught 3.5 metres in the channel. Mooring assistance is on hand through the day but stops around 18:00, so arrive before then as late arrivals berth unaided.
Practical
605 berths with water, electricity and diesel at the fuel berth, where fuel is among the cheapest in Corsica. Booking is handled through resaportcorse.com. Capitainerie, chandlery and boatyard on the quay. Showers run on a 2 euro coin and are few, with hot water not always reliable. Bakery, grocery and a small supermarket within 200 m, restaurants along the harbour front.
Ashore
Sentier des Douaniers footpath starts at the marina and runs 8 km north to the Tour de Santa Maria and Barcaggio beach. Village of Rogliano and its Genoese towers 4 km inland by road. Regular shuttle to the Iles Finocchiarola nature reserve in summer. La Vela d'Oro on the harbour front is the local restaurant of choice, and Terra Mare at the port hires out scooters and cars for the Cap Corse interior.
History
Historic anchorage used by Pascal Paoli in the 18th century as an embarkation point for his exiled supporters. The modern marina was built in the 1970s on the site of the old fishing port.
