Approach and anchoring

Enter from the sea at Bénodet between the Pyramide mark and Men Audierne. The river is buoyed up to Quimper and carries tidal current up to 2 knots on the ebb at springs, felt even on the upper reaches. Rock and mud bottom, most visitors take a buoy rather than anchor. Each buoy is marked with its maximum permitted length and draught, so pick one that suits the boat.

Practical

Mooring buoys managed by the Syndicat mixte de l'Odet along the river above Bénodet. Buoys can also be arranged through the Pors Meillou pleasure association at appm-porsmeillou.site123.me. A Proxi grocery is 2 km away in the village. Water taxi service operates in summer between the river moorings and the Bénodet pontoons.

Ashore

Pors Keraign slipway and hamlet sit 1.9 nm to the SW. The Boutiguery estate 500 m from the moorings has a restaurant with good value meals, and its rhododendrons flower in spring. Port du Corniguel and Quimper old town with the Saint-Corentin cathedral lie 2.4 nm upriver to the north, reachable by dinghy at higher water.
