Sheltered cove on the Odet river estuary south of Quimper, Finistère, southern Brittany.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Up the Odet from the Bénodet entrance, roughly 4 NM inland. Sand and mud bottom, holding rated good, but the cove is shallow with tight swinging room and suits shoal draught. The entrance is the crux: rocks lie close on both sides at the bends, and on spring tides the current sweeps through, so a strong stream can set a boat onto the rocks; work in near slack and reckon it best at coefficients of 70 or under. Shelter from all wind directions thanks to the wooded banks of the estuary.
Practical
No services at the anchorage. Port du Corniguel 1.8 NM north, the commercial and yachting quay of Quimper, with a slipway and limited visitor pontoon. Pors Keraign 2.7 NM SW for a fallback downstream.
Ashore
The river can be explored further upstream by dinghy. Chapelle Saint-Cadou from the 16th century stands 300 m back from the cove, key available at the nearby farm. Sentier of the Odet banks follows the river north toward Quimper, 7 km on foot or by shuttle boat Vedettes de l'Odet in season.
