Approach and anchoring

Enter the Odet from the S between the Pointe de Mousterlin and the Pointe de Lechiagat, then follow the main channel up to the bend off Sainte-Marine. Tidal streams run strong on springs, ebb up to 3 knots. Mud bottom, holding rated good by most, though a few find it soft. The cove shoals fast and dries at the edges, leaving a narrow band to swing in; anchor near the entrance where draught allows and clear of the mud bank on the south side, and check depth and swinging room before dropping. Sheltered from N, W and SW, open to the SE with the flood.

Practical

No facilities on the bank, and landing a dinghy is awkward, with one sandy spot on the shore usable near high water. A Super U at Combrit about 3 km away covers provisioning and can exchange camping gas bottles, so stock up before arriving. Pontoon of Sainte-Marine 0.6 NM to the N with water, fuel and a capitainerie. Bénodet marina 1.5 NM SE across the river, all services.

Ashore

Footbridge of the Pont de Cornouaille overhead, built in 1972, 610 m span. Coastal path of the GR 34 runs along the Combrit shore to the Pointe de Combrit lighthouse in 2 km. Village of Sainte-Marine with shops and the small chapel of 1702 at 0.8 km. At high water the Odet can be worked up to Quimper by dinghy, and the small Combrit river can be explored by paddleboard or tender.
